from Chicago area, Milwaukee, & Madison to Norwalk Norwalk January 2007

Take I-90 to and beyond Madison. Exit I-90 at Mauston (about 70 miles north of Madison). Take Hwy 82 west into & through Mauston, then continue west towards Elroy. Just before Elroy, turn left (south) onto Hwy 80 and then, in the middle of Elroy, turn right (north) on Hwy 71. Take Hwy 71 for 22 miles to Norwalk, passing through Kendall and Wilton along the way. Enjoy the beautiful Coulee Region scenery. The road parallels the famous Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail.

Once you get to Norwalk, continue ...

from La Crosse to Norwalk

Take I-90 east from La Crosse & Onalaska. Exit at the 2nd Sparta exit (exit 28) and take Hwy 16 west to Hwy 71. (Make sure you follow the sign towards Sparta, not east to Fort McCoy and Tomah.) Hwy 71 is a left turn, at the intersection with Quik Trip. Proceed south on Hwy 71 towards Norwalk about 12 miles. The turn off to our land is Kendall Avenue, 1 mile before Norwalk. Kendall is the first left after descending from the top of the ridge, about a mile, and is just past the beautiful red barn.

If you see the County T & Pepsi signs, you have passed Kendall Ave. Turn around. Kendall will be the first right, once you are heading west. See picture below.

from Minneapolis to Norwalk

You can take I-94 all the way to Tomah and exit there onto I-90 or you can transfer to Hwy 27 at Black River Falls. Hwy 27 is more scenic and will save a few miles. Continuing to Tomah may be a few minutes faster.

1st option: exit I-90 at Hwy 131 due south of Tomah (exit 41). Take Hwy 131 south to Hwy 71 and follow 71 north (it actually is running west at this stage) through Wilton to Norwalk.

2nd option: Take Hwy 27 south to Sparta (it passes through the west side of town). On the southwest side of Sparta, turn left (east) on Hwy 16 (Wisconsin Ave) for about 1.8 miles. Turn south onto Hwy 71 and proceed to Norwalk according to La Crosse directions.

Liberation Park: 17483 Kendall Ave (just outside Norwalk)

corner of Kendall Ave & Hwy 71neighbors to our south, you've gone past Kendall AveHeading west on Hwy 71 from Norwalk, Kendall Ave is the second right out of the village (County T is the first), about 1 mile from the village. The turn onto Kendall -- in photo to the left (click for larger) -- is a bit hidden from the approach, and easy to miss. If you have reached the large red barn and horses on the right, you've just missed our corner. We are less than half a mile up Kendall Ave on the left (west) fire sign 17483.
