An 8-week course, "An Introduction to Mindfulness with Breathing Meditation," will be taught at the Rochester Meditation Center each Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., beginning Thursday, July 15 and ending Thursday, Sept. 2.
The course will be led by Santikaro, assisted by Doug McGill, the founder of the Rochester Meditation Center, who has been meditating in insight meditation style for 16 years.
The course will teach:
Sometimes called "anapanasati," mindfulness with breathing is one of the world's oldest and most popular meditation styles. It is the type of meditation that the Buddha said led him to full awakening and is described in detail in the Pali suttas containing the Buddha's original teachings. Among contemporary Buddhist teachers, Santikaro is known for closely following these original teachings.
